Seafood Gastro Awarded One Star by the Michelin Guide
Mathias Dahlgren’s exclusive restaurant Seafood Gastro, located in Grand Hôtel Stockholm, has been awarded a prestigious Michelin star at this year’s Nordic star ceremony. The award was received by the head chef Jonas Hedenqvist at the historic Savoy Theatre in Helsinki. This accolade is a testament to Seafood Gastro’s exceptional artisanship and innovation in gastronomy.
Since its opening in August last year, Seafood Gastro has made a significant impact on the Nordic restaurant scene with its unique tasting menu featuring ingredients sourced from, near, or on the water. This restaurant is the latest venture from Mathias Dahlgren, who has previously been awarded stars for his restaurants Matsalen and Matbaren. Earlier this year, he also received the Lifetime Achievement of the Year Award from the Falstaff Nordic Restaurant Guide Sweden.

The jury’s motivation: The magnificent imposing Grand Hôtel is the home for this decadent restaurant where rich flavors and impeccable Nordic seafood reign supreme. The tasting menu takes you through a roll-call of high-end fish and shellfish, whether it’s sweet langoustine, milky raw shrimp or Osetra caviar. The ultimate premium ingredients, each one is treated with great skills by the chef. With Japanese influences like Wasabi Yuzu and Chawanmushi making an appearance. It all comes at a price, but the luxuriousness of the produce is undeniable.
Seafood Gastro is part of Grand Hôtel Stockholm. Since it first opened its doors in 1874, the hotel has been a destination where artisanship and innovation are the guiding principles in both taste and experience, combined with world-class hospitality.
