The cold weather over the past month has created optimal conditions for snow production and snowfall has made the Scandinavian terrain magical. SkiStar's ski resorts Vemdalen and Sälen opened for the season in early November. Next up to open are Åre, Trysil and Hemsedal. SkiStar will finally open its new Stockholm Hammarbybacken to the public with Sports & Adventures being launched in the capital on 24 June. MySkiStar offers personalised deals and offers, free wifi and tools allowing skiers to track their stats, see how many calories they’ve burned, collect pins and find – as well as compete with – friends on the slopes.

The traditional Freeride event in the Tusenmeter piste will be moved this year. Because of problems repairing the Tusenmeter lift, it will not be possible to reopen the lift before the end of the season. Instead the classic Åre event will move to Stendalen and Bräcke. Nevertheless there will be a black mega jump, freshly shaped lines in both Bräcke and Stendalen, as well as a water basin.
