FANTASTIC CONDITIONS IN NORWAY AND SWEDEN WITH ALL FIVE SKISTAR RESORTS NOW OPEN

It’s been a dream start to the winter in Norway and Sweden, with all five of SkiStar’s award-winning Scandinavian resorts now open for skiing. Perfect conditions, with heavy snow, cold weather and a snow depth of 30cm-88cm, promise a memorable season ahead as snow continues to fall in Sälen, Trysil, Åre, Vemdalen and Hemsedal.

Mathias Lindström, Sales and Marketing Director at SkiStar, says: “There’s been heavy snowfall across SkiStar’s Norwegian and Swedish resorts and cold conditions created ideal conditions for snowmaking. We’re thrilled to be opening early for winter 19-20 and all signs point to a magical season. With the first direct flight from London Heathrow to Scandinavian Mountains Airport between Sälen (Sweden) and Trysil (Norway) arriving on December 28th, we couldn’t have asked for better conditions to welcome even more UK skiers.”

Snow depth in SkiStar’s Scandinavian resorts 2/12/19
Hemsedal: 88cm
Sälen: 49cm
Trysil: 30cm
Åre: 61cm
Vemdalen: 53cm

Snow guarantee
SkiStar’s snow guarantee, which applies to all its Scandinavian ski resorts, allows guests to re-book trips in a different SkiStar resort or get their money back if the conditions laid out in the snow guarantee can’t be met. The guarantee applies to all SkiStar’s Scandinavian ski resorts between 15 December 2019 and the end of the season in spring 2020. Full terms and conditions can be found here.

Heavy snowfall and intelligent snowmaking create perfect pistes
SkiStar’s energy efficient snow-making systems, refined with environmentally sound technology, worked in tandem with natural snowfall to perfect the pistes. Piste groomers fitted with GPS systems measure snow depth each day while ground in skiing areas has been levelled, meaning less snow is required. Automated systems only produce snow when temperature, wind direction, humidity and water temperature are optimal and, as snow from cannons is more compact and durable, pistes stay in better shape for longer.
