Press release -

Support is there for Alzheimer’s and dementia carers

Carers who look after people with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease are invited to a monthly support group at Pinfold Lane Day Centre in Whitefield.

This informal group is open to all families and carers, and provides an opportunity to relax, chat to others with similar experiences, and pick up advice from professionals.

The meetings run from 7pm to 9pm on the last Thursday of the month, and refreshments are available.

Visiting professionals will be there on the following days:

  • 27 February – Carelink (services available for everybody)
  • 27 March – Continence advice service
  • 24 April – Alzheimer’s Society
  • 29 May – British Red Cross (services available for everybody)
  • 26 June – Hearing at Home

The centre can also be hired by individuals and groups in the evenings and at weekends. It has two large activity areas which can be arranged in a variety of configurations or cleared out to make open spaces, and a pretty, secluded garden.

For more details of the carers support groups, or about hiring the centre, call 0161 253 7371 or email pinfold.lane@bury.gov.uk
