Radcliffe Market to re-open soon after £1 million refurbishment

A £1 million refurbishment of Radcliffe Market is nearly complete and it is just weeks away from re-opening to customers.

This major project, a key element of town centre redevelopment, will see the installation of solar panels, a new toilet block, replacement windows, better lighting, more shops and stalls, and a cafe and new central entrance.

Most of the external works have been completed, and the focus now is on fitting out the inside of the hall.

The work is being done by local contractors H.H. Smith and Sons, who have also carried out improvements to Bury Market.

Councillor Mike Connolly, leader of Bury Council, said: “Work is progressing very nicely and we’re on target to re-open the market in late November.

“Radcliffe Market is an important part of our ambitious plans to regenerate and revitalise Radcliffe town centre, along with a new bus station and retail-led development.”
