Packed agenda for new year township forum

A packed agenda awaits visitors to Whitefield and Unsworth Township Forum which holds its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday 5 January.

Top of the list is a presentation about the council’s budget for 2016/17, in which cuts of £11.6 million are forecast.

There will also be the latest news about local bus services and ongoing issues such as the Uplands, the former Whitefield Town Hall, Higher Lane Hickory Grange and Porada.

Updates will be given on policing and the local Town Plan, plus a report on funding available to voluntary and community groups, and the usual open forum where the public can ask questions on any local matters.

The meeting is at the Elms Community Centre, and please note that it is an afternoon meeting, starting at 1pm. It will be immediately followed by a Dementia Friendly Communities Session from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.

The new ‘Market Place’ slot, from 12.30pm to 1pm, will showcase the services and opportunities available for carers in employment.
