Press release -

Our Connected History - launched on 3 March

For the first time, visitors will be able to access online, in one place, the rich and diverse collections of eight museum services.

Greater Manchester Museums Group (GMMG) launches its top 400 objects on their website http://www.gmmg.org.uk/ on 3 March 2014.   With a shared heritage encompassing art, textiles, world-changing inventions and so much more, this unique collection of objects tells the story of Greater Manchester’s Connected History.

Visitors will have access to high quality images, rich interpretation and be able to share their favourite objects on social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.

The project has been made possible by funding from the Arts Council and aims to provide visitors with an enhanced online museum experience and encourage people to visit the region’s outstanding museums.

“Greater Manchester Museums house world class collections that have also toured internationally to great success and continue to inspire and engage new audiences. We are delighted to be able to share these on our joint website and provide our visitors with access to these rich collections that we hold across the region.”

Emma Varnam, Chair of GMMG
