Press release -

Local businesses wanted for township forums

Prestwich and Whitefield and Unsworth township forums are reaching out to local companies to play their part in helping to determine future neighbourhood plans and priorities.

Both township forums need new business representatives to sit on their advisory boards.

Township forums consist of councillors representing their township wards and an advisory group made up of volunteer representatives from within the local community. Volunteers span across a wide range of partnerships providing an invaluable link with the community and helping to shape the local area.

Cindy Lowthian, Communities Manager said “By working in partnership with local communities, the council can achieve more than it can on its own.

“Local businesses alongside our other partners have an important role to play in shaping and improving our communities.Any local business joining one of our advisory boards gets a fantastic opportunity to give something back to their community and help improve the quality of life of local residents.”

Businesses who would like to get involved or find out more should go to www.bury.gov.uk/townshipforums to download the online application form or contact Ruth Shedwick, Township Coordinator on 0161 253 5327 r.shedwick@bury.gov.uk.

The next Whitefield and Unsworth Township Forum meeting is Tuesday 7 July at Whitefield Methodist Church, while the Prestwich forum meets on 30 July at the Longfield Suite.

There will be the usual public open question time, and a police update.
