Weeks of outdoor fun await local youngsters at the Environmental Summer Play Scheme at Philips Park in Whitefield.

The scheme will run every Wednesday to Friday from 24 July to 23 August with partners the Lancashire Wildlife Trust, which means that more sessions can be offered than in previous years.

Each session will include a varied programme of “green” themed art and games, with hands-on experience of the environment and the animals and plants within it, e.g. willow weaving, pond dipping, mini-beast hunts and earth walks.

TheWednesday and Thursday sessions are open to children aged 7 to 11 years old.TheFriday session is for older children only aged between 11 and 14.

Children should bring appropriate clothing for outdoor activities e.g. coat and wellies, and a packed lunch. Drinks will be provided but bring your own if you wish.

The cost is £15 per child, per day, and each session runs from 10am to 4pm.

Due to limited spaces,no morethanfour sessionscan be bookedfor each child. This is to allow as many children as possible the opportunity to come along.
