Giving youth a chance on the famous Bury Market

The traders of tomorrow are being showcased in a new Bury Youth Market which will be held in Mill Gate Square on Saturday 3 December.

This will hopefully be the first of many, giving young people a great opportunity to learn the trade and show what they have to offer.

Councillor Charlotte Morris, cabinet member for culture and the economy, said: “Working with the National Market Traders Association, we’re delighted to add a youth element to our already successful market. The aim is to give young traders (aged 13-30) a chance to experience trading on a very busy and popular market, and it should also help to keep the market fresh and attract new customers.

“We hope that the young traders find they enjoy market life, and that they are inspired to set up permanent stalls and businesses with us. Come along and support our talented and creative young minds!”
