Chocs away – it’s the Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival!

A vast array of tasty treats and family entertainment awaits at this weekend’s Ramsbottom Chocolate Festival (Saturday and Sunday, 23 and 24 March).

Now in its fifth year, this award-winning festival is sure to be a hit with choco-holics from Bury and far beyond.

Thousands of visitors are expected to enjoy some of finest cocoa products around at the Chocolate Market. There will also be a huge variety of al fresco dining, from Tibetan and Thai cuisine to wood fired pizza and pulled pork, Brazilian street food and Spanish paella to homemade ice cream and prize-winning ostrich and venison. If you prefer, pop into one of the town’s many cafes and restaurants

Music will be provided by an array of festival performers, and on Sunday the star of the show is David Julien from TV’s The Voice UK.

Also on Sunday, a real live Jersey cow will be at the Moo 2 Bar. This is a fun and educational way for children to learn how milk from a cow is transformed into your favourite chocolate bar.

To help visitors, there’s a Park and Ride facility offering hassle free transport from Woodhey High School to the festival.

Last year’s festival won the Manchester Tourism Awards for ‘small event of the year’. The festival has also come to the notice of the Continent – it has been voted into the Top Ten Best Chocolate Festivals in Europe: see http://www.mangomystique.com/blogs/news/6732918-top-10-chocolate-festivals-in-europe

Councillor Jane Lewis, cabinet member for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “Word of the festival has obviously got around, and we expect this year’s extravaganza to be the best yet. Ramsbottom is well-known for its tourist attractions and its specialist traders, who have really got behind the festival and will give visitors a great weekend to remember.”
