Celebrating our heroes on Young Carers Action Day

Council leaders are saying a huge ‘thank you’ to the 200 young carers who look after our people and families.

The tribute comes on national Young Carers Action Day, celebrating the work of the country’s estimated 700,000 young carers.

Councillor Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for children’s services, young people and skills, said: “Our young carers do a magnificent job, and we are committed to supporting them. Through lockdown our team has supported families, delivering activity packs, organising virtual sessions such as baking, mask-making and just catching up. Well done to everyone; we need you.”

As part of Young Carers Action Day, some young carers people have contributed to a national video developed by Lung Theatre and have also contributed their own personal testimonies which will be included in the Mayor of Bury’s thank you to carers. This will be livestreamed on Friday 19 March at 5pm – go to https://thankyouburycarers.vidius.co.uk/
