Are you registered to vote? Deadline is 14 April!

Residents who are not already registered to vote are being advised that they have until midnight on Thursday 14 April to join the electoral register.

The Bury Council elections take place on Thursday 5 May and, due to changes to ward boundaries, all 51 seats across the borough will be contested. This means that residents will be able to vote for 3 candidates in their ward.

To register to vote, go to https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.You will be asked for your National Insurance number, but you can still register if you do not have one.

Meanwhile, if you want a postal vote, download a form at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/apply-vote-post

and return it before 5pm on Tuesday 19 April. You will be sent you a ballot paper approximately two weeks before the day of the election.

Anyone who wishes a proxy vote, where you give someone you know authority to vote on your behalf at a polling station, has until 5pm on Tuesday 26 April 2022 to do so. Download a form here: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/apply-vote-proxy
