This year’s jury have toiled, twisted and turned over the notion and concept of design. They are: Åsa Jungnelius, Bolle Tham of Tham & Widegård architects, Jesper Waldersten, Anna Lindgren of FRONT, Petra Lilja of APOKALYPS LABOTEK and Fredrik Blank.

On February 8th, 2011 at 3pm, ung8 – young swedish design is launched at the Greenhouse section of Stockholm’s Furniture Fair. The two awards sponsored by the Auctionhouse Lauritz.com will be presented. Thereafter the exhibition will tour Sweden and internationally, stopping in Stockholm,
London, Malmö, Athens, Gothenberg, Sundsvall, Cyprus and then onto other unknown destinations.

ung8 is an unexpected encounter: It presents the latest of young, Swedish creativity. Boundaries are blurring and the exhibition’s 22 contributors span the realms of Art, Design, Fashion, Architecture and Craft. ung8 cannot be labelled or defined – it has a life of its own.

ung8 is a juried travelling exhibition for young designers working in Sweden or abroad. Applicants must be aged under 32 or studying. ung8 has no defined categories, but rather seeks to create an arena for young designers to test their ideas without limits and where nothing will obstruct their creative flow.

The project UNG started in 1998 and is in its 8th incarnation. Over its history UNG has showcased and promoted the work of many of todays established designers, many of whom began their journeys with UNG.
