Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

Welcome to Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

Inauguration and press briefing – Tuesday 5 February, 09:15–10:00 in Conference Room K1

  • Cecilia Nyberg, Event manager of Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, presents the fair’s innovations.
  • Cecilia Ask Engström, Head of Industry Development – Product Manager for Furniture, TMF, The Swedish Federation of Wood and Furniture, talks about the furniture industry in Scandinavia.
  • This year’s Guest of Honor, Chief Designer and founder of Japanese design studio Nendo, Oki Sato talks about design.

750 exhibitors are unpacking the latest shapes, models and materials. This year sees the welcome return of the Kitchen and Bathroom section.

Innovations/exhibitions 2013

Guest of Honor 10 Years. In 2013, the internationally acclaimed founder of Japanese design studio Nendo, Oki Sato, is honoring us with his presence. His guest lounge in the Entrance Hall provides a remarkable experience of a creativity that leaves no one unmoved. Don’t miss Nendo’s Pop-up Store featuring selected products from “The 1% collection”.

Greenhouse. An entire hall vibrating with the hopes of up-and-coming independent designers looking for their big break. The 2013 exhibition is designed as an inviting Baroque garden courtesy of Note Design Studio.  Enjoy your first chance to see the “Young Swedish Design” traveling exhibition here too.

The Design Bar is a charmingly lit retreat this year. Internationally acclaimed Norwegian designer Daniel Rybakken is installing his amazing artificial daylight. A small gleam can make a huge impression.

Trend exhibitions for Home and Public Spaces. Designer and TV personality Jan Rundgren uses selected items of furniture, lighting and textiles to illustrate current trends in the peace and quiet of home as well as busy public landscapes.

HELLO – Anatomy of Communication. A dynamic concept exhibition about the role of communication in workplace design. Today and tomorrow. This is illustrated on the talk show stage in the Hello show and physically in a mythical stand created by architect Gert Wingårdh and illustrator Kustaa Saksi.

Color and Material Trends. This exhibition analyses the concept of Scandinavian design and takes visitors into the future. Materialbiblioteket in collaboration with Richard Prime. There are daily guided tours of this exhibition.

Contract Market & Home – new section! Architects have been furnishing our offices and our homes with the same furniture for a long time now. Certain items of furniture are just as suited to trendy homes as newly renovated offices. You can now find these treasures in Contract Market & Home in Hall B.

Seminars. Around fifty program items to answer your questions, shed some light on the hottest topics and trigger interesting discussions. The promising talents get a mention and the geniuses inspire us. You can find the entire program at www.stockholmfurniturefair.com

Guest exhibitions

Architonic has been providingarchitects, designers, researchers, manufacturers and retailers with constantly updated and relevant product information for more than ten years.

Designboom Mart. This is the fifth time Designboom Mart is bringing along around forty talented international designers to Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair.

The Crafts Center – KHVC represents more than 800 active professional craft artists from all over Sweden. Ten of them are showcasing exciting examples of spatial design for both homes and public spaces here.

Möbelfakta is a comprehensive reference and labeling system for furniture, synonymous with professionalism and quality down to the smallest detail. The requirements are based on quality, environmental and social responsibility criteria. Möbelfakta is useful at all stages of the business process, from manufacturer to consumer.

Möbelriket is growing and taking powerful initiatives. The inspirational installation DIALOG, created by design strategist Erik Mohlin, will be on display in its stand. 2013 is the Year of Wood in Möbelriket.

Out of the Woods. An exhibition of 12 chairs/seats made of American hardwood, designed by students at The Royal College of Art i London.. 

Studio Re:design. In its studio in Borås, Studio Re:design uses leftover textiles from FOV, Nudie, Eton, the Red Cross, etc., to develop prototypes.

Vodunuvo. Canadian designer Patty Johnson presents a new collection of products inspired by the hardships, struggles and survival of one of the world’s most ancient religions.

Award ceremonies Form +1, Supplier of the Year, Almedahls Award 2013,

Diplomate Interior Colorist of the Year and Lighting Store of the Year.

Stockholm Design Week. Business and relationship building play out at multiple levels. This is about professional meetings, as well as mingling over cocktails and dinners. During this wonderfully beautiful winter week, our entire royal capital will be teeming with design events.
