​Stockholm Chamber of Commerce appoints Chief Economist

The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce has appointed Andreas Hatzigeorgiou, PhD, as its Chief Economist from January, 2015.

"Stockholm is an engine for economic development for the whole of Sweden", says Maria Rankka, CEO of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. "However, the region faces significant challenges that place new demands on our ability to understand and think creatively about ways to promote growth and jobs. Andreas Hatzigeorgiou brings the necessary experience and expertise to help us succeed in facing tomorrow's challenges today."

Andreas Hatzigeorgiou joins the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce after having worked for seven years at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs as an expert in international economics and advisor to the Minister for Trade and Nordic Cooperation.

"I look forward to contributing to the great work of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce," says Hatzigeorgiou. "Together, we can make Stockholm the prime center for growth in Northern Europe."

Hatzigeorgiou holds advanced degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Lund University, Sweden. His research has been published in academic journals as well as in reports by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and other institutions.
