​Understanding of social norms to increase quality in political reform - reflections from Local Democracy Academy 2020

How can political will or social norms be used to combat corruption? To what extent can inclusion, transparency, and accountability be used to improve politics and local governance? In what ways can we develop notions on public procurement to provide better services to local communities? These are some of the questions that were addressed and discussed during ICLD's ​Local Democracy Academy 2020.

Constructing the city from below: grassroots organisations as urban planning agents

Researcher of the ICLD-funded study ‘Organising grassroots initiatives for a more inclusive governance: constructing the city from below’, Maria Jose Zapata Campos, visited Kenya at the end of August to present the findings of the research. While there she also had the opportunity to present the report to the City Manager in Kisumu and officers at the County and discuss the findings with them.
