The main aim of the Akvaplan-niva led CRIPTIC project (Cleaning Riverine Plastic from a Transboundary Inflow to the Caspian) is to apply digital methods and community engagement to reduce plastic waste in the Caspian Sea. Siden 50-tallet er det produsert mer en 8 milliarder tonn plast på verdensbasis. En betydelig del av denne plasten havner i havet hvor det akkumuleres på havbunnen og langs strendene. Akvaplan-niva and partners have been granted funding from Norwegian Retailers’ Environment Fund (Handelens Miljøfond) for a project to map and clean-up plastic waste in the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan. The project will combine a range of advanced digital methods, educational programs, and citizen science to engage local stakeholders in plastic mapping and clean-up activities.

Våre viktigste kundegrupper er havbruksnæringen, energi-sektoren og ulike forskningsfond. Akvaplan-niva er ISO 9001 sertifisert og har egne kjemiske og biologiske laboratorier som er akkreditert i henhold til anerkjente standarder.
