Selfie time!

What matches your selfie better than a really great backdrop? Stockholm’s silhouette is just that. The city is resting on 14 islands and it’s architecture contains only a few remarkably high buildings, among them the characteristic church towers. We’ve got the coordinates for some of the most Instagram friendly spots of Stockholm that will guarantee you lots of likes!

Top Tips:
-Avoid backlight. A softer light is often the most flattering, and a sidelight can sometimes make your picture more interesting
-Try and find something in the background that goes well with what you’re focusing on, like an accessory you’re wearing
-Use the camera´s HDR function if you’ve got one; HDR makes sure that the composition of the picture’s light and shadows is well balanced

Fjällgatan, Södermalm
A stroll along the busy street of Götgatan followed by a few cozy cobblestone alleys leads you to the spot that offers a sensational panorama view of Stockholm. The best time to get your portrait up here is in the morning or in the evening, when the light is slightly softer.

Stockholm Old Town
Heights aren’t necessarily always the ultimate spots for great pictures. In the Old Town, “Gamla Stan”, you’re surrounded by historical facades of bricks and stone, cobblestone streets, narrow lanes and picturesque squares. One of the most popular places in Stockholm when it comes to selfies is located right here next to the church Storkyrkan, in a telephone booth that dates back to the 19th century.

ABBA The Museum
At the immensely popular ABBA The Museum, you can take selfies with no less than the members of this legendary band. When entering the museum, authentic doll images of Agnetha, Anni-Frid, Björn and Benny are welcoming you, and one “click” later you’ll definitely brighten your Instagram feed!

On the water
As mentioned, Stockholm is built on 14 islands and is surrounded by water. With one of the many boats that regularly travel between the city and the archipelago every day, or maybe just the ferry that quickly takes you from Slussen to Djurgården, you will have more than one astonishing view for that selfie.

Bolinderska Palace’ staircase, Grand Hôtel Stockholm
The Bolinderska Palace is connected to the Burmanska Palace and the main building of Grand Hôtel and consists of both hotel rooms, suites and conference and banquet venues. Some of the buildings rooms are decorated by famous Swedish artists such as Hanna Winge, Carl Larsson and Svante Thulin. If you’re staying with us, don’t miss out the spectacular staircase with its new renaissance design with a magnificent marble façade and the delicately shaped banisters - this will no doubt put something a little extra into your selfie.

The Wave Swing Ride, Gröna Lund
This swing is one of the amusement park’s absolute classics. Take a ride to soar over the water, and don’t leave without striking a pose in front of it – especially during the evening the lights and colours of the carousel give a festive look.

The City Hall Tower
During summertime, May – September, the City Hall welcomes guests up to the tower of the building. The staircase of 365 steps leads you up to a 360 degree view of Stockholm city and surroundings.

Bergianska Garden
Close to Brunnsviken and the Stockholm’s University you’ll find this botanical oasis with countless great spots for photography. The Bergianska Garden contains more than a thousand different plants and you’ll find both rainforest and Mediterranean flora in the Edvard Anderson Greenhouse.

Brunkebergs tunnel
This 200 metre long underpass between David Bagares gata and Tunnelgatan in the centre of Stockholm is a hidden favourite spot among influencers. Pedestrians and cyclists can use this short cut to avoid a few hilly streets.
