Family-friendly things to do in Stockholm

Stockholm truly has something for everyone, children included. Our green city offers a lot of outdoors activities as well as great exhibition and museums for rainy days. Grand Hôtel is the perfect base for a family vacation in children-friendly Stockholm, from here you reach all the most popular attractions with ease.

Ice cream heaven
What’s more fun and tastier than a colorful ice cream bar? Just entering one of Stikki Nikkis branches is a mood booster. And we can guarantee that their homemade icecream, gelato and sorbet will make your kids happy throughout the day, or at least for the coming hour. The flavors vary by season and all ingredients are natural, organic without artificial taste enhancer or colorants.

Discover the rainforest in the middle of the Haga Park
The butterfly house Haga Ocean is a 5000 square meters rainforest oasis. Enjoy the unique experience of walking among exquisite colorful butterflies flying freely around you in a breath-taking exotic tropical environment. Right next to the butterfly house you will find the Haga Garden Café that is the prefect choice when feeling puckish and craving Swedish fika.

Ivar Los park
At Mariaberget on Södermalm you will find a park that brings you back to the old rural days with old-fashioned small cottages in a beautiful environment. When the energy level is high, make sure to let your kids enjoy the creative climbing frames. The park is also ideal for picnics - with spectacular views of Stockholm.

Skansen
Skansen is a must when visiting Stockholm. Stroll around this beautiful outdoor park and get a glimpse of both Wolfes, bears, elks, and wolverines among many other animals. Skansen is the world's oldest open-air museum, where you also can discover the historical Stockholm in miniature. Do not miss Lill-Skansen with Lilla Kott who guides you through the world of both smaller and larger Scandinavian animals.

Step into the world of fairy tales at Junibacken (open from July 10)
Get on the fairy tale train and experience an exciting journey through Astrid Lindgren's magical fairy tale world, where you meet Madicken, Emil, Karlsson-on-the roof and many others. Meet the world of Astrid Lindgren through playful exhibitions, children's theater, and a well-stocked children's bookstore.

High-level adventure in Nacka Nature Reserve
Ready for an adrenaline-filled activity for the family with children above the age of ten? Try the high-rope park located in the beautiful nature reserve of Nacka. High up, among the tall pine trees you will also find Sweden's fastest zip line.
