Didriksons celebrates its iconic Thelma jacket with a limited Black & White collection

Worn by more than half a million women the world over, the Thelma jacket, now in its 15th year, is one of the most iconic Didriksons jackets and it is being celebrated with a new Black & White limited edition. The collection, which also features updated versions of the Andrea and Aino classics, is being launched throughout Europe on August 19th.

The background of the Black & White collection is that the Thelma jacket has been part of the Didriksons range for 15 years, carried by more than 500,000 women the world over and doing sterling service as a favoured companion through life’s contrasts and changes. And it is precisely contrasts and changes which were the starting-point when the decision was taken to celebrate Thelma with a limited-edition series. Warm or cold. Stormy or calm. Happy or sad. Thelma is a dependable companion throughout life.

Black & White, which will be launched across Europe on August 19th, is a limited design collection consisting of three jackets all designed with the same meticulous craftsmanship that has made these jackets so popular over the years. The new versions come with updated design elements such as a special reflex print on the collar, sleeves and hood to ensure they are as up-to-date in autumn 2022 as they were last year or 15 years ago. Long-term sustainability permeates everything Didriksons does.

“Didriksons focuses constantly on sustainability, as regards to both design and production. The Black & White collection is a clear example of this, as the jackets are cherished both for their functional design and because they last. When Thelma saw the light of day in 2007 it was launched in a choice of white and grey-black. With the limited-edition Black & White collection we’ve been inspired by the original design, but have evolved the jackets to be more up-to-the-minute than ever,” says Per Odqvist, Head of Product at Didriksons.

100% recycled fibres

Thelma has an outer shell made of durable 100% recycled woven nylon, and the Andrea and Aino jackets are made with padding consisting of 100% recycled synthetic fibres. All the jackets have linings coloured using Solution Dye technology, which cuts water consumption by up to 80% compared with traditional dyeing of the same material. The jacket’s water-resistant material is also PFC-free.

Classic silhouettes tailored to today’s fashions

Thanks to smart manufacturing methods, the jackets are made to protect against wind and rain. With a design that suits every occasion, workday casual or elegant, they are equally suitable on a windy day by the sea or an evening out in the city. It’s no coincidence that Thelma has been the go-to favourite in wardrobes the world over. In the Black & White collection the jackets will be available in a choice of two colours – black and white – and will proudly wear the iconic Didriksons symbol.

“With this collection we aim to show that jackets don’t need to be replaced every year but can instead serve well throughout the changing phases of life. We’re also keen to emphasise that these jackets are more relevant today than ever before. If you buy a jacket from the Black & White collection you’re making a good choice and will get a garment that is as trendy as it is timeless, one that will last for many years to come,” explains Per Odqvist.

The Black & White collection will be launched on August 19th throughout Europe. The collection features new versions of the Thelma, Andrea and Aino jackets, three style icons from Didriksons.
