New Exhibition at World of Volvo: "In case of emergency – innovations that save lives"

For almost a century, Volvo has developed vehicles that help emergency services protect, rescue, and assist people. From fire engines to patrol cars, every vehicle is designed to quickly reach its destination – whether it’s through busy city streets, tough terrain, or harsh weather. World of Volvo now presents its new exhibition, In case of emergency – innovations that save lives, a tribute to the vehicles and solutions that make the world a safer place.

With safety and innovation as driving forces, Volvo’s emergency vehicles have played a vital role in protecting and saving lives. In the In case of emergency exhibition, visitors are taken on a journey through Volvo’s history of collaboration with emergency services and authorities, where each vehicle carries its own story of technological advancement and social commitment.

Highlights of the exhibition:

  • Revolutionary radio cars: The PV56 from 1939, one of the first patrol cars equipped with radios, which transformed police work forever.
  • The police dog’s place: Volvo Duett, Volvo’s first estate car, with room for the police force’s four-legged colleagues.
  • The future of fire safety: From robust fire engines of the 1930s to the engine of the world’s first series-produced electric fire truck.
  • Heroes of sea rescue: Volvo Penta’s powerful engines drive rescue boats through rough seas and challenging conditions.

The exhibition also highlights the important work of Volvo’s in-house crash investigation teams, where "crash detectives" gather crucial knowledge from accident scenes – knowledge that contributes to designing even safer vehicles.

“We are proud to showcase how some of Volvo’s safety innovations help save lives every day”, says Viktoria Wallner, Chief Experience Officer, World of Volvo, and continues:
“This exhibition is a tribute to the people, research, and technology, and we hope our visitors will have an exciting experience”.

The In case of emergency exhibition opens on December 19. Visitors are welcome to explore the vehicles that tell Volvo’s story of working towards a safer world.
