In a partnership announced today, whatt.io, the innovators behind the Digital Product Passport and IP protection solutions, will join forces with Denmark-based SimplyPrint, renowned for their intuitive 3D printing management software. This collaboration aims to seamlessly integrate intellectual property rights protections, ensuring a secure workflow from digital spare part designs to final 3D fabricated products.
SimplyPrint, which embarked on its journey in 2020, was born out of a recognized need to simplify 3D printing. Founders, Albert Møller Nielsen and his dedicated team, have since developed solutions making 3D printing accessible and streamlined, addressing challenges that educational institutions and makers face. By eliminating the need to juggle numerous programs and memory cards, SimplyPrint has made 3D printers user-friendly and efficient. Today, they boast over 10,000 users and have established a significant footprint in the 3D printing landscape.
The partnership will see SimplyPrint's platform support the innovative 3MF Vault technology from whatt.io. Makers and fabricators using the platform will not only be able to access files for printing, but will also view the essential metadata that comes with 3MF files. In a bid to push boundaries even further, both companies are exploring the potential of embedding copyright metadata directly into the G-code that directs 3D printers.
One crucial aspect of this collaboration is the mutual goal of promoting local micro-manufacturing. By integrating SimplyPrint's solutions with whatt.io's digital spare part section, the vision is to empower local micro factories to swiftly produce spare parts for immediate repair needs.
