whatt.io Launches DOLORES - A Modular Development Platform for Digital Product Passport Exploration

whatt.io proudly introduces DOLORES, a modular platform for developing C++ code and hardware prototypes aimed at advancing Digital Product Passport (DPP) technology. Aligned with the EU’s CIRPASS-2 project, DOLORES explores future applications of DPP through the integration of APIs and Artificial Intelligence, transforming how industries interact with product data.

DOLORES is compatible with microcontrollers like Arduino and integrates with the whatt.io API, Google Speech-to-Text, and OpenAI's GPT. Designed for industries, research, education, and more, this platform leverages NFC tags, QR code scanning, and AI vision for intelligent interactions with DPPs. In CIRPASS-2, whatt.io serves as a leader in exploring identifiers like QR codes and NFC tags, forming the backbone of standards in digital product data exchange.

The Digital Product Passport is a cutting-edge concept that mirrors human passports, storing essential product information that can be accessed via unique identifiers (QR, NFC, etc.). DOLORES enables machines to interact with this data, facilitating product identification, real-time data exchange, and even dynamic updates from physical world sensors.

Modular and Flexible Design
DOLORES utilizes a standardized PCB system, offering flexibility and modularity. Up to three different functional boards can be used simultaneously, ensuring adaptability for a wide range of applications. The first available module is the incendo board, which focuses on automatic NFC tag programming and reading, with QR code verification on an LCD screen. Other upcoming modules include Spectro QR, which will enable QR code identification and simulate EEPROM-based NFC tags, dynamically storing and feeding sensor data into the DPP.

Additional modules are under development to support advanced features such as voice recognition, text-to-speech via Google API, and more intelligent interaction with DPPs using the OpenAI GPT API. The system's design includes high-quality audio components and a sustainable 3D-printed main body made from 100% recycled materials.
