National Museum closing, reopen in 2017

The National Museum will be open as usual until February 3, 2013. When the National Museum closes for renovations, operations and the collections will be moving to a new address in Stockholm: The Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts at Fredsgatan 12. The new National Museum will be finished and reopen to the public in 2017.

The museum activities at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts will begin in the summer of 2013 and will provide unique opportunities to juxtapose older and modern art.

The renovation and new construction at the museum will be carried out in two phases: the first will involve renovation and conversion of the main building and the second will cover the construction of an annex. One of those carrying out the work will be the famous architectural firm of Wingårdh Arkitektkontor
