News -

The Norwegian borders are now opening up

Norwegian authorities have announced a relaxation of the travel regulations. Travellers from a handful green European areas/countries and travellers from Denmark with a valid corona certificate are now allowed to enter the country without having to quarantine.

From Thursday, 24 June, people residing in EEA with a COVID-19 certificate that can be verified with a QR code will be able to enter Norway without having to quarantine.

Currently, only a Norwegian or Danish COVID-19 certificate with a QR code that can be verified by Norwegian authorities is considered to be a secure and verifiable way to document vaccination or having had COVID-19.

Travellers living in a green area can also travel to Norway without having to quarantine, if they have only stayed in green areas for the last 10 days before entering Norway. See which areas that are "green" or "red" on The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH)’s official website's colour-coded map.

From 5 July Norway’s colour-coded entry system will be equalized with the EU system. Currently, travellers from red areas will still have to quarantine at a quarantine hotel and/or in a suitable place with own bathroom and kitchen, while people residing in other countries outside EEA/Schengen/UK are not allowed to travel to Norway yet, unless one of the exceptions on this page applies. Updates and changes may occur on short notice. Read more about who can travel to Norway right now.

Changes to the regulations will usually be announced every Friday and enter into force from midnight the following Monday.

Before travellers finally get to visit Norway again, or for the first time, preparations can be made. Learn the noble art of “kos” ("cosiness"), check out Norway's weird and wonderful food and Norwegians' love for outdoor lifestyle (“friluftsliv"), and discover unique accommodations around the country and vibrant cities with plenty of urban friluftsliv

Norwegian adventures await.

--------------------------------

If you live in EAA/Schengen area and have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have undergone COVID-19 disease in the last 6 months, you can travel to Norway when you can document this in a safe and verifiable way.
Currently, only those who can present a Norwegian, Swedish or Danish COVID-19 certificate with a QR code which can be verified by the Norwegian authorities are covered by this exception.
European Union Digital Corona Certificate (EUDCC) is to be launched 1 July. When your digital certificate has been approved as verifiable, you can travel to Norway without having to quarantine.

Be aware that both national and local rules and regulations related to the coronavirus and travelling in Norway change frequently and on short notice. All travellers, both international and domestic, are therefore encouraged to seek out the most updated information by visiting the relevant websites. It is recommended that travellers continue to follow precautionary guidelines, such as frequent hand-washing, social distancing, and respect current local regulations.

Are you a modern pilgrim?

St. Olav's Ways in Norway are the world's northernmost pilgrimage paths and are hikes with a deeper meaning. A walk along one of the pilgrimage routes gives space to think, with a landscape where to contemplate and heal. The story of Kes Blans from the Netherlands is emblematic. Kes had beaten cancer, but had lost his ability to trust life. A pilgrimage from Oslo to Trondheim changed everything.
