Sir Alex Ferguson: Will Fergie see Red as United Travel to Anfield?

Sir Alex Ferguson is once again the thorn in the side of Premier League referees and Boylesports.com is backing that the United manager will once again have something to say about the referee this weekend as the league leaders head to Liverpool.

Phil Dowd is the man in the middle for Sunday’s tumultuous North West derby, a man who has handed out 102 yellow cards so far this season and averaged a red card every three games, prompting Boylesports.com to go 23/10 that a player is sent-off in this weekend’s derby.

The previous meeting between United and Liverpool, an FA Cup clash at Old Trafford in January, saw Steven Gerrard given his marching orders whilst both Nemanja Vidic and Javier Mascherano saw red the last time the pair went head to head on Merseyside. A repeat of that, with both sides going down to ten men, is at 8/1 with Boylesports.com.

Any opposition player to be sent off for a challenge on Rooney, something that Fergie believed should have happened on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge, is at 20/1.
With Sir Alex already doing little to endear himself to the men in the middle thanks to his comments following United’s midweek defeat at Chelsea, Boylesports.com is 66/1 that he is sent to the stands at any point during the match.

“The referees always play a big part in these games and given Ferguson’s comments about officials in the past week, Phil Dowd will be under intense pressure this Sunday,” said Boylesports.com Head of Public Relations, Leon Blanche.

“Sunday sees a referee with the second highest cards per game ratio in the country taking charge of a fixture that has a history of bad tempered clashes. We can imagine Sir Alex having something to say about that at full time.”
