Press release -
Bike carrier Thule Xpress 970 comes first in test conducted by Swedish website testfakta.se
Thule, the market leader in transport solutions within the automotive industry, is proud to announce that its bike carrier, the Thule Xpress 970, has been selected as the winner of a new test. The test was carried out by Testfakta, the Swedish independent test and research company, specialized in laboratory testing of consumer products. In total, eight bike carriers were tested.
The main criteria for the test were product safety and stability. The Thule Xpress 970 obtained high scores in all test categories. The carrier stress tests simulated normal driving conditions including driving over speed bumps, hard breaking, sharp turns and fast accelerations. Several brands failed the test as their carriers, or the bikes fixed to them, would have fallen on the road, representing a potential danger for traffic.
The Thule Xpress 970 was launched in 2006 and has been a bestseller in Scandinavia, and across several other countries worldwide. It carries two bikes, fits most frame sizes and folds up for easy storage. The Thule Xpress 970 is also equipped with soft, protective frame holders for increased stability, and passes Thule’s City Crash test conditions*. The load capacity is 30 kg and the carrier weighs 4 kg.
-”I am very pleased to see that the Thule Xpress 970 received such high ratings in this consumer test, especially since safety is and always has been one of Thule’s main priorities", comments Christian Ludwig, International Product Manager for Rear Mount Systems at Thule. “With its smart features, ease of use and product safety, Thule proves once again that it is well ahead of competition.”
Thule offers a wide range of bike carriers for towbar mounting, ranging from simple but secure designs, to elegant and advanced transport solutions for up to four bikes. The company also has solutions for three other ways of transporting your bike by car – roof mounted, rear door and indoor mounted carriers.
Other Thule bike carriers that have previously won various tests in Europe include roof mounted carriers, Thule ProRide 591 and Thule FreeRide 530 and the towbar mounted bike carrier, Thule EuroWay.
*The City Crash test is a method of testing that a product complies with ISO 11154 and DIN 75302 standards. The test simulates a full frontal car crash.
