Plymouth’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2011 goes to...

Boringdon Golf & Country Club, Plymouth, 20^th April 2011.

At the prestigious Herald Business Awards, The Una Group’s Director Ian Brooking was named as Plymouth’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2011!

The glittering awards ceremony was held at Boringdon Golf & Country Club in front of over 400 guests. Despite tough competition Ian shone through as the clear winner for his great local work including landing the £15m Carbonarius project which recycles waste wood into energy.  This has brought together a national plc in the form of Mitie Group plc together with a major international manufacturer.

Group Managing Director David Young: “This fantastic award is great recognition for Ian’s contribution to business in the South West.”

Congratulations to friends of The Una Group who were also recognised, including Lime Juice’s Leane Bramhall named as Young Business Person of the Year, Brittany Ferries named Tourism Business of the Year and Pipex who won Family Business of the Year.

Despite difficult economic times, businesses in Plymouth are continuing to prosper. It’s entrepreneurs like Ian and the other nominees that will continue to highlight Plymouth as a thriving city perfect for business.
