SKÖVDE, Sweden – October 1st, 2024 - Coffee Stain Publishing and Iron Gate Studio are teaming up with MOOD Publishing to launch the official crowdfunding project for the tabletop version of their brutal survival game Valheim! Starting today, fans of the game, norse mythology enthusiasts and board game devotees alike can back it on the official Gamefound page for the project.
The Valheim board game is developed by award-winning designer Ole Steiness, the maker of the Deep Rock Galactic board game, and published by MOOD Publishing. Ole and MOOD have worked tirelessly to translate the unique feeling of exploring the world of Valheim into an experience for 1-4 players that will vie for Odin’s favour as they work together to brave the wonders and dangers of the tenth Norse realm.
The board game adaptation will feature the first four iconic biomes (The Meadows, Black Forest, Swamps and Mountains) and an array of weapons and tools to craft in order for players to stand a chance against the godlike beings that haunt the realm. Vikings will also have to build and defend their homestead as they progress deeper into the hostile biomes, and improve their base to get stronger and more durable.
To recapture the iconic immersion of the indie hit, on top of the base game the crowdfunding project also offers a range of figurines including miniatures of each of the biome bosses, player viking characters and a boat miniature that is free for pre-campaign followers, but also purchasable as an addon. The Gamefound project also offers tiered rewards for players depending on how much they’d like to back the development of the board game.
The Valheim board game crowdfunding project will be live starting today through October 22nd, and more information including an overview of the rewards and approximate development timeline can be found here.
You can find the Valheim board game assets here. For more information about the Valheim board game, keep an eye on the Gamefound page. Valheim is currently available on PC, Linux and Xbox through Steam Early Access, Microsoft Store and on Mac via the Mac App Store.
