THE SCHOLARS, FOUNDED BY THE ESPORTS AWARDS, PARTNERS WITH TEAM LIQUID

  • Team Liquid have teamed up with the Scholars to present the Good in Gaming Award, recognising those who advance diversity and inclusivity in collegiate gaming
  • The Scholars are set to take place across November 27-28th at Worlds Resort Las Vegas, just days before the Esports Awards

LAS VEGAS, NV (Nov. 7th, 2023) – The Scholars, the world's premier collegiate gaming symposium created by the team behind the Esports Awards, proudly announces the launch of the 'Good in Gaming Award', presented in collaboration with Team Liquid.

The prestigious award aims to recognise an exceptional individual or organisation that, over the past year, has demonstrated commendable efforts in promoting diversity and inclusivity within the collegiate gaming community. The deserving recipient will embody the following criteria:

  • Championing inclusivity – enhancing the representation of underrepresented groups, creating inclusive spaces, and cultivating programs that encourage diverse participation.
  • Amplifying diverse voices – actively working to elevate diverse stories and voices within the collegiate gaming community. Efforts include showcasing diverse talent in broadcasts, hosting events celebrating diversity, and collaborating with underrepresented communities to ensure their voices are heard and valued.
  • Developing inclusive practices – playing a pivotal role in developing and implementing progressive policies and practices leading to increased diversity and inclusivity within the collegiate gaming ecosystem.

The nominees are:

  • Cxmmunity - a non-profit organisation committed to increasing the representation of minorities in esports and gaming through STEAM development
  • Jacquie Lamm - Co-Founder of Esports & Coffee
  • Chris Turner - Director of the Mixed Reality Virtual Innovation Gaming and Esports Institute at Southern University Law Center
  • Cora Kennedy - Director of Esports at Illinois Wesleyan University
  • Eugene Frier - Director of Esports & Gaming and Adjunct Professor of Esports at Texas Wesleyan University
  • Dr. Sarah Hays - Therapist at Save Point Behavioral Health, and Clinical Contributor at Take This, Inc.
  • Dr. Kishonna Gray - Associate Professor at University of Kentucky, Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS), and the Director of Faculty Learning Community on eSports and Gaming

Team Liquid will present the Good in Gaming Award at the inaugural Scholars this November 28th at Resorts World Las Vegas.

The Scholars, Collegiate Gaming Awards, is designed to empower both students and professionals. With over 1,500 nominations received, The Scholars will host the PWR UP Las Vegas: Collegiate Gaming Conference, presented by GamerTech®. The event will unfold across the 27th and 28th of November before culminating in the main awards ceremony.
