Stroke Association urges people in Warrington to ‘shape up’ for charity run

The Stroke Association is encouraging people to shape up after summer and sign up to a 5k, 10k or 15k Resolution Run on Sunday 04 October at Victoria Park, Warrington.

Kicking off at 11am, this fun run provides the perfect motivation to get fit after the summer holidays while raising vital funds for charity.

Laura McMullin, Events Officerat the Stroke Association, said: “At least half of strokes could be prevented if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control and taking more exercise. We’re encouraging people in Warrington to get fit and take part in our Resolution Run, with friends, family or on their own. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned runner, we welcome participants of any ability and you can choose your own pace and distance.

“The event is now in its third year at Victoria Park; last year we had over 250 runners and raised over £9,000. The money raised will fund vital research and support, as well as help to prevent people in the North West from having a stroke.”

Registration for the Resolution Run begins at 9:30am with a 10.45am pre-run warm up and 11am start. Entry fee is just £12.50 with a t-shirt or £15.00 with a technical running vest. All runners will be provided with water and a medal to celebrate their achievement.

For more information about entering or volunteering, visit www.stroke.org.uk/resolution, email resolution@stroke.org.uk or call 0161 742 7484.
