Preparations for the 2024/25 winter season are well underway at SkiStar’s destinations in Sweden and Norway. SkiStar saw a significant increase in British skiers across SkiStar’s resorts last winter, and the guests enjoyed reliable skiing conditions throughout the season. With the British skiers in mind, SkiStar introduce several exciting updates this coming season.

SkiStar, the leading holiday organiser for Scandinavia, is taking a significant step in its transition to a fossil-free operation by testing complete electrification of a ski resort. The unique pilot project is being conducted at SkiStar's ski resort in Stockholm, Hammarbybacken. This marks a crucial milestone for the company towards its sustainability goal for 2030.

Comments from the CEO Stefan Sjöstrand: “The early start of the winter season has led to a high demand from our guests, and the bookings are 9 percent higher than previous year, meaning that more than 80 percent of the season’s estimated accommodation sales are already booked.”

The cold weather over the past month has created optimal conditions for snow production and snowfall has made the Scandinavian terrain magical. SkiStar's ski resorts Vemdalen and Sälen opened for the season in early November. Next up to open are Åre, Trysil and Hemsedal. SkiStar, the market leader in Scandinavia alpine tourism, expect a long Scandinavian ski season that extends to 1 May.

Preparations for the 2023/24 winter season are well underway at SkiStar’s destinations in Sweden and Norway. Several important steps have been taken to modernise and improve the ski experience for all ski enthusiasts, including new 6-seater lifts in Sälen and Hemsedal. All destinations will also receive improved snow production to ensure a long and snow-proof winter season.

Climate change will have a direct and significant impact on SkiStar operations in the future, as white, cold winters are a prerequisite for winter operations. To ensure that efforts to reduce climate impacts are sufficient, climate targets have been developed to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement, in line with the SBTi methodology, which has now approved the targets.
