Football stars set for bus parade and town hall celebration

Rochdale’s promotion winning football squad will parade along the Esplanade in the town centre on Tuesday (6 May) before attending a civic reception at the town hall.

Final details of the celebrations, hosted by Rochdale Borough Council to mark the squad’s second promotion to League One under Manager Keith Hill have been announced.

The team are expected to arrive at the town hall by open top bus at 6.15pm. At approximately 6.30pm they will appear on the town hall balcony alongside the Mayor to toast their success.

Fans are welcome to assemble along the Esplanade, where the bus will slow down to enable fans to get the best and safest view.

Mark Widdup, Director of Economy and Environment, is hoping everyone will come and show the team their support:

"The town is buzzing and we are encouraging as many as possible to come down and watch the team arrive at the town hall to show them our support. Promotion to League One means a lot to the borough and we're hopeful of a large turnout. It’s been another amazing season for Rochdale Football Club. The manager, players and everyone connected with the club have worked really hard, so we’re delighted to help them celebrate their thoroughly deserved success. They also want to thank the fans for their support.”

Fans are being advised to arrive early.
