But in this context, we prefer to think of soil, stroking dogs or contact with peers.In the bathroom, we’d rather have things clean and hygienic – especially in old age, when we don’t want to train our immune system so much as go easy on it.
When several people live together, the bathroom becomes a place of communication. Plenty of space and multifunctional elements like walk-in showers or double vanities are a great way of bringing structure to the chaos.
Who hasn’t ever dreamed of gliding gently down a slide and into a big pool? Of hanging gardens, hammocks and swings, of an air mattress floating on blue water? And all without stepping foot outside the front door! If Pippi Longstocking can live in Villa Villekulla with a horse, why not?
How about a little black number? Or perhaps a classic straight-cut three-piece in white? Maybe combined with a natural shade of brown, or would metal appliqués be better? Seriously, though: even in a bathroom showroom, salesmen sometimes need a keen instinct for fashions and people.
On the occasion of the International Trade Fair of the entire HVAC industry, the ISH 2015, taking place in Frankfurt, the chairman of the German Sanitary Industry Association [Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft(VDS)], Hartmut Dalheimer explained what visions are standing behind the pictures and titles of the new campaign of "Pop up my Bathroom."
In the run-up to the ISH 2015, the Pop up my Bathroom trend platform initiated by the German Sanitary Industry Association [Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. (VDS)] explores the needs that should be taken into account by any bathroom concept designed for a specific life stage.
At the international ISH trade fair in Frankfurt (10th to 14th March), the “Pop up my Bathroom Atelier” lecture programme will again be shining a spotlight on the latest trend developments in the sanitary industry. The trend forum provides an abundance of ideas, informative presentations and fascinating panel discussions with distinguished speakers and international participants.
There is much more to the idea of freedom in the bathroom than barrier-free accessibility: it involves ergonomics, multifunctionality and aesthetics as well. The experimental platform Pop up my Bathroom will be dedicating the new concept bathrooms it has developed for the ISH 2015 to precisely this theme: bathrooms that accompany people throughout every stage of their lives.
Pop up my Bathroom, an initiative of the German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. [VDS]) and Messe Frankfurt established in conjunction with the ISH, is an experimental platform for architects, bathroom planners, interior designers and journalists.
