LG Cookie Fresh Price & Release Date Revealed

The LG Cookie range is set to expand even further with the release of the new LG GS290, there is already some confusion as to the exact name that this new phone will be launched as with Vodafone opting for LG Cookie 2 whilst the official name is Cookie Fresh.

This latest device joins the range alongside another new model called the LG Cookie Plus which will be sold under the model number GS500, the LG Cookie Fresh is a simpler more affordable option and is set to go head to head against rivals such as the Samsung Genio Touch and Nokia 5230.

A budget touch screen phone, the new LG GS290 offers a 2.0 mega pixel camera with video support and a good sized 3.2 inch, 240 x 400 pixel touch screen display, the main focus of this new LG Cookie phone is social networking with applications for the most used websites such as Facebook and Twitter supported. These can be easily accessed via home screen widgets with just one touch and the main user interface has been tweaked for a fun style cartoon feel to keep the user entertained.

Other features of this new handset include a web browser, Bluetooth technology, multimedia player and an expandable memory up to 8GB using MicroSD cards. The basics are definitely there although features such as GPS, WiFi and 3G support are omitted to keep the price down.

If this new phone manages to launch with a similar or cheaper price than the rival Samsung Genio Touch then it could well win out with its larger touch screen and slimmer dimensions, however if it ends up being just that little more expensive the LG Cookie Fresh may not make the impact the manufacturer hopes for.

The new LG Cookie Plus with its extra technology and features could be the better option and with many people looking for at least a 3G phone to keep downloads and social networking a faster experience the GS290 might fall flat on its face.

Set to launch on Mat 17th, the LG Cookie Fresh will initially be offered with a SIM Free price tag of £109.99, this will be a network unlocked mobile phone allowing the user to insert their own SIM card either on contract or the Pay As You Go system.

This latest LG phone is set to be made available in an astonishing 16 different colour schemes which could help the sales of this basic handset by setting  it apart from the dull and mundane colours of other models available.
