Transparent and secure KNX communication up to 1,200 mA

Press release -

Transparent and secure KNX communication up to 1,200 mA

As the first KNX power supply on the market, the Step Power from Phoenix Contact has an active KNX choke and provides all relevant KNX status information at a glance via the integrated colour display. This means that it combines efficiency and diagnostics on site.

KNX is a powerful and flexible standard for building automation. It enables the seamless integration of various devices for controlling lighting, heating, air conditioning, blinds, safety systems, energy management, and more. The KNX Step Power power supply ensures smooth bus communication. It is the first KNX power supply with a nominal current of 640 m and an active KNX choke. This adapts dynamically to the connected load of the KNX devices and increases the efficiency of the bus system up to a KNX communication of 1,200 mA. Unlike the passive KNX chokes available on the market, the full load of up to 1,200 mA can be ensured here without reaching magnetic saturation. In addition, the integrated colour display provides all the relevant KNX status information at a glance. It does not just reflect the current system status, but also provides a wealth of information via the menu. This is used primarily for the setup, diagnostics, and extension of the KNX system.
This results in a range of advantages for the users and system operators: the BUS and AUX outputs can be viewed separately, so that the error analysis can be narrowed down. Furthermore, the temporal overload behaviour is recorded in the device and can be called up via the display. As soon as the KNX system has been reset, the runtime – but not the total device runtime – is reset to zero so that the exact time of an error event can be determined. The wide range input with both AC and DC enables worldwide use and compensates for mains fluctuations so that KNX communication is not affected. The integrated Push-in lever connections complete the handling of the Step Power bus power supply.
