Oxford University Press and the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries sign read and publish deal
New transformative agreement will unlock greater open access publishing opportunities for Swiss researchers and support a more equal research landscape
Oxford, England, 14 December 2022: Oxford University Press (OUP) and the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries (CSAL) have reached a two-year read and publish agreement. Coming into effect on January 01, 2023, the agreement will provide full access to OUP’s full journals collection and increased open access publishing opportunities for researchers at CSAL’s member and customer institutions.
This read and publish deal is OUP’s first agreement in Switzerland and 31st globally and reflects its continued drive to increase open access publishing, in line with its mission to further Oxford University's objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide.
Speaking about the agreement, Alistair Lewis, Sales Director at Oxford University Press, said: “With 2022 drawing to a close, we are delighted to have finalised negotiations with the Swiss Academic Libraries and come to an agreement that will benefit the Swiss research community. As the largest university press publisher of open access research, we are committed to facilitating initiatives, such as read and publish agreements, that will support a more open and equitable research landscape.”
Susanne Aerni, Head of Consortial Services at the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries said: “We are delighted that we have been able to resume negotiations which resulted in a successful conclusion. This has resolved the current state without an agreement, a situation which was unsatisfactory for all parties involved. With the conclusion of this agreement, we are another step closer to achieving the goal of the Swiss Open Access strategy.”
