Winning Big at the Food and Drink Federation 2020 Awards

In early February, the UK Food and Drink Federation hosted its annual award ceremony, to recognise and celebrate the achievements of industry members and employees. Presented virtually for the first time in its history, the Food and Drink Federation delivered awards across several categories, such as Brand Launch of the Year, Hidden Hero and Apprentice of the Year.

As we celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we congratulate Emma McLeod, our Bournville-based RDQ researcher for receiving the Food and Drink Federation’s Engineer of the Year award for 2020. Emma has proved herself to be an incredible technical ambassador for the UK Food and Drink industry and has shown this through her valued leadership in the UK’s Food Engineering agenda, especially regarding digitisation. At Mondelēz International, her combination of global technical leadership and commitment to helping careers grow has seen her become an inspirational technical role model for colleagues, especially for women working in STEM across the company.

Emma McLeod commented on her win:
“I am honoured to win the Food and Drink Federation’s Engineer of the Year award and I am extremely proud to be recognised for my technical work in the industry. Thank you to the Food and Drink Federation for this award and to everyone who has inspired me and supported me over the years.”

Continuing the theme of recognition, Dr. Roger Angold, Lead Scientific Consultant at Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL - a subsidiary of Mondelēz International) was commemorated for his service to the Food Science industry, with the Food and Drink Federation’s Lifetime Achievement 2020 award. Over the last 50 years, Dr. Roger Angold has created a meticulous legacy of research, setting out fundamental principles that continue to inform key aspects of food product development today.

For the Food and Drink Federation 2020 awards, Mondelēz International was shortlisted for the following:

Campaign of the Year: Mondelēz International – ‘Donate your words’

Food and Drink Engineer of the Year: Emma McLeod – Mondelēz International

Lifetime Achievement: Dr. Roger Angold – Reading Scientific Services Ltd (RSSL)

Thank you to the Food and Drink federation for recognising and awarding our people and their efforts, we are extremely proud to contribute to the continued success of the Food and Drink industry.
