Two men jailed for raping teenage girl in north London

Two men have been jailed after being found guilty of raping a teenage girl at an address in north London.

Adilson Domingos, 42 (11.01.82) of Damask Crescent, E16 and Baxton Atenis, 29 (27.09.94) of Hanover Road, N15 were both found guilty of rape at Wood Green Crown Court on 1 February 2024 following a three-week trial.

On Monday, 1 July, they were sentenced at the same court. Atenis was jailed for 13 years for two counts of rape. Domingos was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment.

The court heard how a girl, then aged 16, was out with a friend in central London on 11 July 2021 when she was approached by Domingos and Atenis. They coerced her to get in a car and then drove her to Atenis’ address in South Tottenham where both men raped her.

The victim managed to leave the house in the early hours of the following day and called police.

Detectives from the Sapphire team based on North Area, which covers South Tottenham, launched an investigation and provided support to the girl. She provided important details to assist investigators to help track down Domingos and Atenis, including a description of the car they drove and the address they took her too.

She also provided a phone number Atenis had given her. He was arrested and this led to detectives identifying and arresting Domingos - he was also identified from a social media profile that was provided to police. Both men were bailed while evidence was compiled and subsequently charged with rape in December 2022.

Detective Constable Daniella Biggins from the North Area Sapphire team, who led the investigation, said: “Domingos and Atenis are highly dangerous, predatory individuals who targeted a young girl and isolated her from her friends before raping her.

“With the support of her wonderful family and friends, the victim showed immense courage and bravery in supporting a police investigation. I would like to personally thank her for the strength she has shown, and also to the witnesses who provided evidence.

“I can only hope the conviction goes some way to providing closure to the victim after what was a horrific experience, whilst also being a part of keeping these dangerous individuals off the streets.

“I would encourage anyone who is victim or witness to sexual assault, to contact police. You will be listened to and specially trained officers will support you through any criminal investigation.

“There is zero tolerance for such serious offences and this conviction serves as a reminder that those who commit such horrific offences will be found and put before the courts to face justice.”
