Officer to appear in court charged with sexual assault

A serving Metropolitan Police officer is due to appear in court charged with a sexual offence.

Detective Constable Jose Poonsawat, attached to the Central South Command Unit, is due to appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 12 July charged with sexual assault.

This relates to an incident while the officer was off duty on 16 December 2022.

The officer is currently on restricted duties.
