Man charged following death of elderly man in Newham

A man has been charged following a murder in Newham.

Philip Fracezek, 20 [6.4.04] of Tower Hamlets Road, E7 appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 17 May charged with attempted murder. He was remanded in custody to appear at the Central Criminal Court on Friday, 14 June.

This relates to an incident at an address in Plaistow Road, E15 on Wednesday, 15 May. A 79-year-old man was found suffering injuries. He was taken to hospital and has since sadly died.

He has been identified as Franklin Agbotui. His next of kin are being supported by specialist officers.

Given the victim sadly died after the initial charges were imposed, we will work closely with the CPS to have the charge amended as appropriate.
