Samsung Galaxy S2 Mini is Not So Miniature After All

The Galaxy S has been the most successful Galaxy phone yet and also the biggest selling Android smartphone to ever be released. The updated Galaxy S2 has taken a similar attitude and has had many prospective phone buyers drooling at the mouth, with this sequel likely to be one of the biggest selling phones of the year. While the original was criticised for its large 4" screen many found this to be greatly beneficial for video and web content. However, the S2 has gone even further by upping this screen size to 4.3" which for many people has been the main cause of hesitancy in rushing out to buy Samsung's latest flagship smartphone.

Although the S2 crams in virtually every piece of modern hardware that is available for a smartphone today there are still many people who would like to enjoy a similar experience but in a more 'comfortable' or 'traditional' sized phone. This is where the Galaxy S2 Mini makes it entrance by offering some of the more modern features to be implemented into the S2 but without the excessively large screen.

It should be pointed out that with a 3.7" Super AMOLED screen the Galaxy S2 Mini is still larger than phones like the iPhone 4 that are not marketed as miniature devices. If you are expecting something in the size range of the new Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini phones then you may be slightly disappointed. However, the S2 Mini does offer a comfortable alternative to the very large Galaxy S2 device.

Obviously the S2 Mini does not contain the same level of cutting edge technology as the more high profile S2. As already mentioned this smaller phone comes with a Super AMOLED screen while the larger S2 features an improved Super AMOLED Plus. Although Samsung has developed this new screen technology the existing Super AMOLED found on the S2 Mini is still as fantastic and vibrant as it was one year ago when the original Galaxy S made its debut.

The S2 Mini runs on Android Gingerbread and is powered by a 1.4GHz processor, which means that it will not be as powerful as the dual core Galaxy S2 but will still provide plenty of speed for the new version of Android. This comes with access to Android Market where you can obtain some great apps and games for this phone to whittle away the hours on long commutes.

The S2 Mini will benefit from the faster 3G connections of its larger sibling making this one of the fastest phones for mobile internet browsing, and it will also come with excellent Wi-Fi support for all forms of online activity. As well as general web browsing the phone will come with support for online entertainment through websites like YouTube and of course support for social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

The S2 Mini is not truly a miniature phone but in comparison to the larger flagship Galaxy phone perhaps this moniker is justified. This phone features the excellent options you would expect on any leading Android device and also benefits from some faster connectivity options, although overall the hardware is not quite as cutting edge as its bigger brother.
