Sofia Svensson has been appointed new CEO of the innovative Swedish company Hövding. Fredrik Carling will leave his role as CEO after ten years and Sofia Svensson will succeed him in the first half of 2022.
Swedish firm Hövding is taking its business up a gear in the German market through a strong new agency partnership with ALPINA Sports, part of the market-leading UVEX Group in Germany. Sales of Hövding’s airbag for cyclists have shot up in Germany in recent years. The new business model ensures an even greater presence in the German market, with broader sales channels and marketing.

The fourth quarter, as expected, resulted in being Hövding largest in net sales to date with 46,5 million SEK. The number of Hövding helmets sold during the fourth quarter increased by 50% compared to the same period last year. Net sales increased by 58%. Read the report in the attached pdf.
Hövding Sverige AB (publ), which is listed on Nasdaq First North, announces that the Company's Board of Directors, subject to approval of the Extraordinary General Meeting, has decided on a new share issue of approximately SEK 25 million with preferential rights for existing shareholders.
September 12th Hövding 3 was launched to market after four years of development. The product has, prior to this, received CE approval and been in production during 8 weeks. The market response to the product has been more than satisfactory. Read the Interim Report Third Quarter in attached pdf.
Hövding are off to a strong start in 2019. The number of helmets sold during the first quarter increased by 135% compared with the same period last year. Read Hövding Interim Repor First Quarter - January-March 2019.
2018 was a very good year for Hövding with a growth of +63%. The year’s key markets, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, have all experienced strong growth. Above all, it’s interesting to see how positive the development has been in Germany. Sales in that market increased in 2018 by +96%, and in the second half of the year by as much as +118%.
130,000 of Hövding’s airbags for cyclists are now in circulation on our roads, with almost 20,000 sold in the last three months. More and more people choose to stay safe in traffic by wearing a Hövding, and this is evident in the company’s third quarter interim report.
Hövding started out in 2005 as a master’s thesis by the two founders Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin, who, at the time, were studying Industrial Design at the University of Lund.
The project resulted in the concept of an airbag helmet, which won Innovationsbron’s Ideas Grant. This kick-started the process of developing Hövding into a real product. In 2006 Hövding won the Venture Cup, after which Hövding Sweden AB was founded.
Over the years Hövding has grown from just two people with a great idea, to a NASDAQ-listed company that handle everything from development and production to marketing and sales. Today Hövding consists of a team of around 30 people, all triggered by the word impossible, and Hövding’s airbag for cyclists is available in 16 markets across Europe.
The headquarters are located in an old chocolate factory in Malmö – the sixth greatest cycling city in the world. Final assembly of Hövding is carried out in association with the Japanese Company Nihon Plast.
