Hitachi Rail to deliver new digital signalling in Valencia

Press release -

Hitachi Rail to deliver new digital signalling in Valencia

Hitachi Rail has been awarded the contract to deliver the signalling for railway integration in the city of Valencia. Specifically, it will deploy signalling systems and equipment for the so-called Access Channel that Adif is promoting in the city, an action that includes the integration of the access tracks to the València Nord and València Joaquín Sorolla stations, and the enlargement and remodelling of the latter station to respond to the increase in traffic and passengers.

This evolution and adaptation of the signalling systems, are an essential part of the most ambitious railway and urban development project in the Valencia Region, for mobility in the region and the Mediterranean Corridor.

"The completion of the project will mean major advances on all railway lines, thanks to the so-called 'network effect', which will mean greater comfort for passengers and users. It is essential to highlight the consequent environmental improvement of the areas that will be affected by this transformation," said Carlos Mezquita, Country Director for Hitachi Rail in Spain.

This Hitachi Rail contract is in addition to those that the company has been awarded by Adif to deploy new digital signalling technology in actions such as the Madrid Chamartín Clara Campoamor station or the Madrid-Seville High Speed Line equipping it with the latest generation interlockings and the ERTMS Level 2 system.
