Completed the construction of the first train of the new metro of Honolulu

Hitachi Rail Italy has finished the setting up of the first out of 20 vehicles with 4 cars planned for the new metro of Honolulu.
From the HRI facility in Pittsburg, California, the vehicle completed with interiors - destination the island of Hawaii - has in fact left.

The production had started in recent months at the factory in Reggio Calabria, in Italy, where the cars structures had been built and assembled, to be then completed and equipped with all the planned technological innovations.

The metro does have the peculiarity of being driverless, which is without driver, thanks to  the sophisticated control systems of AnsaldoSTS, who leads the Joint Venture Ansaldo Honolulu JV, that includes HRI who is in charge of the construction of the entire vehicle.
The JV has a contract with HART (Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation) of over 1 billion and 300 million dollars.

"Just as happened for the Frecciarossa 1000, the Copenhagen and the Milan metros - underlined Maurizio Manfellotto, CEO of Hitachi Rail Italy - we continue to deliver our products according to the schedule agreed with the  customer. This new success is a further step towards our global development. A development that is based on quality and reliability, with maximum respect for the needs of our customers".
