Tyler wins Child of Sussex Award

Tyler Murphy

On Friday 23 October, Southern sponsored the ‘Make a difference’ category of the Child of Sussex awards, which celebrate the achievements of the children across the county.

The winner of the ‘Make a difference’ award was Tyler Murphy, recognising his wonderful charity work for sick children and their siblings. When Tyler was 12, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and received extensive treatment in Southampton Hospital, where he met several other young people and their siblings going through similar experiences. He decided to set up the charity ‘Tylers Trust’ (tylerstrust.co.uk/) and now arranges for gift boxes, treats and overnight bags to be provided to poorly children and their brothers and sisters in Chichester, Worthing and Brighton.

Jane Lee, Head of Communications, who presented the award, said: “Tyler undertakes fantastic work helping to support young people and their brothers and sisters, often when they are at the lowest. Southern is very proud to be able to present this award to him to recognise all his wonderful efforts.”
