Press release -
Two more trains for Peterborough, Cambs, Beds and Herts commuters
- New fast peak-time Peterborough-London services will call at Huntingdon, St Neots, Biggleswade and Stevenage
Commuters on the Great Northern route between Peterborough and London will be offered an extra train each way from early next month.
Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), which operates Great Northern trains, is introducing the additional weekday services in response to rising demand and comments from passengers who called for more peak-time capacity.
The two new fast services will operate from Monday 3 June, providing more comfort and convenience for commuters using Peterborough, Huntingdon, St Neots, Biggleswade and Stevenage stations.
The additional morning train will depart Peterborough at 6.35am, scheduled to arrive at London King’s Cross at 7.44am. In the evening, the new return service will leave King’s Cross at 5.42pm, arriving at Peterborough at 6.53pm. [Times at intermediate stations below.]
Jenny Saunders, Customer Services Director for GTR, said: “We’re constantly listening to our customers, and I’m delighted we’ve been able to respond with these extra seats, providing more choice, comfort and convenience for our passengers between Peterborough and London. We’ll continue to monitor demand and make more improvements wherever we can.”
The new services are now included in on-line journey planners and the new timetable is available from Great Northern’s website at Train Timetables | Timetable for Rail Network | Great Northern (greatnorthernrail.com)
