Press release -

London Bridge services disrupted until the end of the day

All lines between London Bridge and East Croydon remain closed for the rest of the day while Network Rail and Thames Water repair the hole caused by a collapsed sewer at Forest Hill.

This means that Southern services serving London Bridge will be delayed, cancelled or diverted during this evening’s peak.

Although services from London Bridge to Uckfield, Caterham and Tattenham Corner will mostly run, they will be diverted, extending journey times.

Some Uckfield services may terminate short of their destination between Oxted and Uckfield. These journeys will be completed by rail replacement bus services.

Southern services will not be able to serve Anerley, Penge West, Sydenham, Forest Hill, Honor Oak Park, Brockley or New Cross Gate stations, but ticket acceptance has been arranged with London Buses.

Some services to Littlehampton/Eastbourne will start/terminate at East Croydon, some will be cancelled. Please check journey planners for details.

Passengers who wish to travel to East Croydon are advised to avoid London Bridge, and use either Victoria or Blackfriars as an alternative.

Southern tickets are valid on Gatwick Express, London Underground, London Buses, London Overground (in South London), South West Trains and Southeastern services on any reasonable route.

Passengers whose journeys are delayed by 30 minutes or more can claim compensation at www.southernrailway.com/delayrepay.

Wednesday 20 July:

Network Rail has informed us that repairs will be completed in time for the start of service tomorrow morning, Wednesday 20th July. However, because of the disruption today, some trains and train crew may be out of position leading to short notice alterations. Please check before you travel.
