Haywards Heath station multi-storey car park now fully open

The new £11.5m multi-story car park at Haywards Heath station has taken another step to completion with the opening of the entire car park to station users.

Until now, users have been using one half of the building while the other half was prepared for use, and occasionally, it had been a tight squeeze to get everyone in. Now that the whole building is in use, there’s plenty of room for everyone with 1,057 spaces – compared to 827 before the car park project began.

Not only are there hundreds more parking spaces available, the new cycle hub, which has 130 spaces, changing rooms and lockers will soon be open.

Haywards Heath station manager, Graham Thrower said: “We’re delighted that the long-awaited car park is now fully operational. To get to this point, we’ve had to make quite a few changes to temporary parking arrangements and our customers have been extremely patient with us while we did this. I would like to thank them for their understanding. We now look forward to the completion of the project culminating in the opening of the footbridge which will improve the parking experience even further.”

Still to come is the completion of the footbridge which will connect the car park directly to the platforms and see the re-opening of the Boltro Road entrance. Also, a refreshed station facade is planned. These are due to be completed in summer next year.
